The Glasgow Conservation Trust West was established in 1990 as a registered charity with a remit to conserve the historic West End of Glasgow. The offices of the Trust are located in Hillhead Baptist Church, a B-listed building designed by T L Watson in 1883 which stands on the corner of Cranworth and Cresswell Streets just off Byres Road.
The Trust has established itself as an important centre for technical and historical research, promoting an interest in and awareness of the West End's architectural heritage with the intention of translating that interest into the active promotion of better maintenance for local buildings and streetscapes.
The resources at the Hillhead office of the Glasgow Conservation Trust West are open to the public by appointment. To date, the library and databases have been regularly consulted by local school children, university students and residents from around Glasgow, as well as by tourists and students from abroad.
